Alabama has no state law which requires that every voting machine have a voter-verified paper trail.  However, the Secretary of State has chosen to use a voting system that contains such a record.  We must now ensure that the law should be adjusted to make sure this cannot be undone.  Additionally, it is absolutely vital that we provide for an audit in Alabama.  Just having a paper record is not enough, it is just step one.  Step two is to have random inspections that compare the paper count to what the machine count says, to make sure it is tabulating correctly and find any technical errors or fraud.
